It really depends on the school; I've seen dancers at age 10 en pointe, but predominantly, the girls are 12. The bones in a dancer's feet have reached fairly full maturity at 12, which is why it's best to wait 'til then. However, that said, many schools do start early; some as early as age 8 (!), which I don't agree with, but needless to say, there it is. As long as the pointe work at age 10 isn't too terribly taxing (and it probably won't be), she should be okay.
