See also my shaving blog at http://mantic59.blogspot.com ! UPDATE: Target no longer sells Proraso. Palmolive no longer produces lather shaving cream (red tube). Would you like a shave so good that you might consider it a pleasant hobby instead of a painful chore?

this stuff works but it's expensive and the products are not easily accessible

walkerdav2003- You can absolutely wetshave every day. With proper preparation and technique (much like claest007 describes below), you can easily avoid shave bumps. Also, in your case fewer blades is better than more blades! Try a single blade safety razor or a two blade sensor.

Lars1540- In front of the Proraso is a sample vial of a cologne (I don't recall which one) and a limited edition shaving brush by Shavemac. The razor is a Merkur Progress. Behind the Progress is indeed witch hazel (Thayers), "DaVinci Water" (a hydrosol from QEDUSA), and Trumper's "Skin Food" (limes scent). I use witch hazel as a final cleanup of my skin before applying aftershave balm (or in this case Skin Food). I'm working on a video about aftershaves that will explain further.

Hey mark, at the 0:52 sec mark, where you are showing the proraso shave cream, and razor, what are those other products present in the frame? I made one of the bottles out to say "Lavender Witch Hazel". What do you use witch hazel for pertaining to shaving? And what were the other products and what were they used for?

Very nice! That's actually a pretty good price for a silvertip, I've seen them run easily twice as high. You're right though, when you consider how long it will last, the price isn't that much. Quality products in the end are cheaper than buying several cheap versions. :]

I bought my silvertip badger brush at Trufitt & Hill. It cost around $150 dollars with taxes. They had even more high end brushes in the $300 dollars range, but I thought mine was good enough. I expect the brush to last a very long time. One thing I have found with traditional wetshaving is that I get a much closer shave and I have no ingrown hairs anymore. Its a win win situation...

Interesting, most shavegeeks find that the gain in performance with a silvertip over a $60 super badger isn't much. Then again, you now have a really high quality beautiful brush that you like. So congrats. :]

Yes, I wanted to just spend x dollars up front to get good quality products rather than having to go through the expenses again. I had shaved 3 times thus far and it was well worth the investment
