Abdur Rahim Green talks about the purpose of life under the topic "Meaningful Mankind, The Islamic Definition". Born in Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania to British parents, Green's father (born in England), Gavin Green, was a colonial administrator in the then extant British Empire. At an early age he moved back to the UK with his parents. His mother is of original Polish origin. At the age of 10 he attended a Roman Catholic Monastic boarding school at Gilling Castle and then went onto Ampleforth College and went on to study history in the London University. However, he left his education unfinished in an effort to devote himself to Islamic works. He became dissatisfied with Christianity at the age of 8, with it not making sense to him. Green researched and practiced many religions, including Buddhism (for 3 years) before embracing Islam. Whilst in Britain his father got a job in 1976 working for Barclays Bank International and was subsequently sent to Cairo, Egypt, to set up a branch of the Bank there. His study of the Noble Qur'an immediately attracted him to Islam and he embraced Islam in 1988. He has been a Daw'ah practitioner in Britain since then. Green now works in the London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre as the Visits and English Dawa Co-ordinator. Green is seen akin to lecturers such as Dr. Zakir Naik, Dr. Bilal Philips, Khalid Yasin and Yvonne Ridley, doing many lectures on Islam worldwide and also in London's famous Hyde Park, Speakers Corner.

Well, Islam is about moderation. We need to balance between materialistic ans spiritualism. Even the companions of the prophet pbuh were among millionaires at that time, BUT do not worry it so much until we forget that Allah is our HOPE!

If you neglect the duty which has been ordained by Allah then Allah will Humiliate the Muslims!! Sound Familiar? (Present state of affairs)!! Thauban narrated that The prophet (SAW) said " How will it be when the nations of the world will gather around and plot against Islam" (I.E: UNITED NATIONS) a questioner asked " is it because we are a few in number"? The prophet (SAW) replied " No you will be many, but Allah will take the fear from your enemies and put love of this world in your hearts"

Surah: 14.Ibrahim 23. But those who believe and work righteousness will be admitted to Gardens beneath which rivers flow to dwell therein for aye with the leave of their Lord:their greeting therein will be:Peace! Surah:15.45 The righteous(will be)amid Gardens and fountains(of clear-flowing water).(Their greeting will be):"Enter ye here in Peace and Security. And We shall remove from their hearts any lurking sense of injury:(they will be)brothers(joyfully) facing each other on thrones(of dignity).

Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others."

The more u know about sharia and about ijtihad the more capable u are to use ur independent judgment without compromising ur relationship with Allah...otherwise u are just following ur own desires and deceiving ur self...mind it

We have a purpose in life and that purpose is to worship Allah! If we want to pursue true happiness and be rewarded we are supposed to follow the instructions how to behave and how to be good Muslims! Allah sent us a prophet to explain what Islam is and it's by our deeds we prove our belief in Allah! On the Judgment Day our good and bad deeds will be weighted. Heaven and Hell is created with a purpose and we should ask our selves where do we want to be..we have a free will to obey or disobey!

so basically, you agree with me? .. find logic for the stated principles, and research upon those that do not make sense .. and then, follow your own independent judgment!

Islam is a religion that we should follow not blindly, therefore we need to reflect about the wisdom behind its practices. That would be the difference between being overwhelmed by rules that doesnt make sense to us and feel enough love for Allah to do everything that it takes to please him. This religion is better to be understood through love and taqwa than just through fatwas. We have been given talents and resources, and we need to behave accordingly to this blessings.
