On this videos, seems like wiping PVA worked just fine. I guess spray it would be better, but not so much better than wiping.

1. No gelcoat for carbon fiber, just resin. You won't see the carbon. 2. Get PVA from Fiberglass Services in Gardena, CA (carbon cloth, fiberglass, epoxy etc etc as well. They supply surfboard makers, they have everything, they're super cheap, and very very nice) 3. PVA should be sprayed on, not wiped on. Good luck.

Thanks for watching. Nope. Since it was just a "practice" workshop, we just put resin on the carbon fiber & on the mold. I was told we could've gelcoated 1st.

hi mate, i was wondering did he/you gelcoat the carbon parts before laying up?
NoOtherNameWasLeft (May 28, 2008 at 5:59 am)
you can try fibreglast (note spelling)if there's nothing local. Maybe others have suggestions for better places.

Where's a good place to purchase PVA for mold casting as shown in this video? Would you find it at a place like Lowe's or would I have to search through specialty shops?

good call man. it will happen its only a matter of time.
NikitasGuitars (April 9, 2008 at 3:07 am)
very very thin, the thickness of the fabric itself is like a 64th of an inch. Small pieces unravel really easily though so you may want to put some sort of backing on it before you cut it. I would use a nice pair of scissors. Depending on what you're inlaying in you can just cut route the inlay about twice as deep as you need, lay the fabric in with a little adhesive and drown it in bartop epoxy... sand and polish once its dry and voila! Good luck and let me know how it turns out man.

I want to make just a carbon fiber inlay. Can anyone tell me how thinnest carbon fiber can go 1/8th inch? 1/16th? Thanks
