aka how one Iowa guy lost over 200 pounds and gained his life back. I can not say enough about how positively the Atkins Diet and low carb in general has been for me. I went from a 429 pound guy who could barely make it up a flight steps to a guy running half marathons and rejoining the National Guard. My health is fantastic, and my blood work (cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, heart) could not be better. |

| Can yu tell me whsat to start with with the atkins as far as food, I have the book and have done the induction, but for some reason it did not work for me, i think maybe I am reading it wrong |

| im now 20lbs overweight according to my height... i love seeing people loose weight it inspires me to keep it up the only thing holding me back is myself |

| So it really comes down to how do you define fat or fitness level... What the scale reads is only one judge and sometimes a very poor one at that. If you can do some endurance or moderate cardio exercise for 45 minutes and able to do something like pushups, it really doesn't matter if you are up 10 pounds. That isn't fat acceptance (which misses the point) that is seeking to be healthy.
If one is 50 lbs over weight -- however defined, I think one is particularly challenged to be as fit. |

| I totally agree - not everyone is geared to be 6% BF or running marathons or a size 2. There are a variety of body shapes in this world that one can be healthy. Don't even get me started on the fallacy of BMI stats -- BF % or athletic performance are MUCH better guides to one's fitness level. |

| Hey what can I say, I am a child of the eighties and early nineties music tastes... About water weight, depending on how much you have to lose will determine how much water weight you lost. The first bit of Atkins lost is indeed mostly water weight as the body depletes its glycogen stores (which are two-thirds water). That said, there is fat lost as well and you set yourself for greater fat loss in the future by purging those stores. |

| yes. i do agree, but everyone's diffrent. i think theres a nuetral body wieght for everyone, that doesnt use the BMI. |

| lol you can tell your age by your taste of music.. just teesing.. im doing atkins im a week in and lost 10lbs so far but my clothes arent any looser.. do you think all 10lbs was water weight? |

| In my case when I was fat, I had a severe case of sleep apnea, I couldn't walk up a flight of steps without being winded, my blood pressure was borderline, among other things. I couldn't run around a block let alone run a marathon. After work activities was me in a chair sleeping.
There is no question that being fat was dragging me to an early grave. If you aren't seeing the same effects and are happy with your ability to move, then don't change. I couldn't delude myself anymore. |
