Surfing's great! Surfers can be very athletic. But bodybuilding workouts are doing little to help you.
Deadlifts should be central to a program. Delt raises are a waste of time unless you need some remedial shoulder girdle work.
I'm not trying to discourage people from lifting weights - to the contrary! I'm telling them bodybuilding is a poor way to get strong.
Do snatches, clean & jerks, deadlifts, full squats, presses, and ab work. Don't bother with any isolation movements. |

Bodybuilding is not a good way to get strong, no matter how hard you work at it it, and no matter how good your diet is.
It's very difficult to break someone's neck who doesn't want it broken, especially if that person trains for athletic strength using whole body, explosive modalities - that guy will kick the butt of the guy doing the bodybuilder workouts every time! |
