I think Irvin realises what he is up against in this interview but he sounds a little nervous and trying to fill either Anderson or his own head with his apparent game plan when all Anderson will do is watch wait and see the holes and go for them instantly. He will already know the traps the counter and the best shots to use. I like to watch Anderson because if he gets beaten we can say 'Ah he was only that good' and if he wins we can say 'Ah he is REALLY good' its a win win for us so enjoy rooting for both sides. I think Irvin could really pull this one off. I managed to find a copy of Irvin v Thiago Silva and Irvin hit and staggered Thiago with his first punch and chopped him down to the ground with a vicious leg kick which I have never seen anyone do before. Irvin then made the mistake of getting excited and following Thiago to the ground which was a trap and got wrapped up in his guard. That happened to Paul Taylor et al against Marcus Davies too and both time they should have let them up quickly whilst hurt and picked them off from there avoiding time wasting clinches. I know Anderson is head and shoulders above everyone and maybe he can carry the extra weight but you have to like Irvin steaming in and landing a few shots and nobody has hit Anderson hard in the fights I have seen. He wouldnt exchange or really even punch against hard hitter Lee Murray and I dont see him doing so against Irvin, instead relying on leg and head kicks. The Murray fight is a pretty good fit for how I see this fight going but with Irvin much stronger and with more tools than Murray. So Irvin has to watch for that left hand of Silva's to dip as he lifts his leg for a high kick and step in whilst he is in that vulnerable stage with his leg high and score to the body with the right blocking the leg near the knee with his shoulder and back and then a long left hook to follow if he can lean in and reach the chin of Silva. Irvin also has to counter leg kick any attack on his lead leg or he will have lost mobility and power very early. I always get excited about these big matches but they often turn into points scoring lower key affairs e.g. Rampage/Hendo Rampage/Griffin Chuck/Silva etc, so I see either Irvin getting in and shocking Silva early or Anderson doing his usual of taking his opponent apart in his own time and stopping Irvin 2nd or 3rd round. I just have this feeling about Irvin tho....
