What effects does MSG have on diet, obesity, health and food cravings?
Because MSG is absorbed very quickly in the gastrointestinal tract (unlike glutamic acid-containing proteins in foods), MSG could spike blood plasma levels of glutamate. Glutamic acid is in a class of chemicals known as excitotoxins, high levels of which have been shown in animal studies to cause damage to areas of the brain unprotected by the blood-brain barrier and that a variety of chronic diseases can arise out of this neurotoxicity.

| There's no telling how many health problems are linked to this stuff. I highly recommend people read Paul A Stitt's book Fighting "The Food Giants" He talks about how the food industry deliberately put stuff in our foods to make us eat more of it. America we need to wake up. Just like our government allowed the private sector to run amuck, they have allowed food companies to literally poison us to death and we are seeing the results every single day. It's nothing but a legal Holocaust. |

| You are absolutely right.I don't know why people still trust the FDA. The FDA is in bed with food and drug companies working to protect their profits. I don't trust the FDA as far as I can spit. It's the most corrupt government organization in the country. I have always said this and I'll say it again. Food and drug companies along with the FDA are the biggest terrorist organization in the world. Together these three evil organizations have killed millions of Americans. When will people wake up? |

| But this information is good for people who aren't sure about what's causing certain medical problems such as headaches. If they try and eliminate foods with glutamate or aspartate, they can see if that's the cause. It's definitely worth trying (I get headaches every day and I also drink diet soda which has the aspartate). |

| Well, we don't know added products cause problems, unless you talk about those REALLY bad ones. You can't yet say it's better, because it (organic food) is more expensive, and sometimes, can be dangerous, but I agree partially that certain additives are very unnecessary. |
