love that grand piano in the back...

well it would be fine with vibrato but they just didn't change the sound enough. Senza vib is a special effect that should be used sparingly. I think it would sound weird with no vib at all to support the sound.

playing this piece in the summer.. love it

at part 06:55 they are playing horribly because there shouln't be used vibrato! it's a choral.

I think cello number 2 (the woman) has the best feel for the piece and is most sensitive to what the piece demands. Number 1 (the guy on the left) is certainly a great player but attacks this piece insensitively.

The Cellists are like each playing their own... It sounds messy.. Is this piece meant to be like this?

His shifting it AGRESSIVE... the timing is too abrupt. "Every shift is a controlled slide" which means that the slide is audible or not according to the needs of the music/taste of the artist. These musicians are too different. each is playing seperately and there is no sense of ensemble. The music dictates the mood. There is no section in a faster tempo/happier mood, so the the mood is indeed sentimental, sad, and poignant.

what's wrong with his shifting? i fail to understand. is avoiding the slide a bad thing? and requiems aren't all about "oh they're gone i'm so sad!" it's about remembering their life! maybe the person who this was written about was fun and exciting, and being all sentimental would have ruined the mood of the piece.

I thought it was insensitve. Unbalanced... It is a requiem. I gave it five stars because of the beautiful tone that each cellist gave...

The vibrato difference interfered with the ensemble. #1 shifts very aggressively. There is no gentleness, no tenderness...this is, after all, a Requiem. The emotional peak comes just before #3's solo entrance, and should be as whispered as a prayer, but is hurried and loud. Piano is too loud throughout. The quasi vibrato is nice, but Absolut Senza is better
