Caruso singing La Donna e Mobile from Verdi's Rigoletto for Victor in 1907. The correct playing speed is 75 rpm which I did not know when I uploaded this record. I played it at 78.26 rpm. Some of Caruso's earlier records played at much slower speeds and I have adjusted those postings accordingly.

| Yes. Lanza was born in South Philly as Alfredo Cocuzza.. not quite sure]Sometimes that name leads some to believe he was born in Italy[which he was not] You are correct. The Bjorling comment is new to me and I am glad to hear of it. Thanks |

| He felt Bjorling was not as warm always but loved Tucker more then any non Italian -even Lanza but perhaps he loved mario for pure voice but Tucker as a met opera singer, he wrote the forward to tucker's biography, signed it Pvaoratti and said YOU ARE THE MASTER OF US ALL. I KNEW HIM ALSO He preferred Di Stefano early above all others and stayed in Chicago when here with a close friend of mine who had his private number in Italy and went on fishing trips with the great man. |

| Corelli in this aria was not good, poor cadenza, not a tenor for lyric roles his Boheme here I heard in the 60's was terrible but in Carmen he was great and calaf of course. Lanza not a good Cadenza either-- so caruso peerce tucker and schmidt for a cadenza was best, also Bjorling very fine all the way in the role. caruso he had it all he was the king of tenors. Peerce recorded it complete with Warren in 1950 a great recording, Berger was alright as Gilda |

| You are very fortunate to have known such a great singer!I envy you!Pavarotti was easily one of the top five tenor voices I have ever heard,and I have listened to many,past and present!He used to talk [in interviews]of Gigli singing 10 20 or 30 encores after a performance.If I had Caruso Gigli and Luciano on my roster of tenors I would need no more! !Luciano obviousy liked big,smooth,beautiful sounding ITALIAN tenors.Never mentioned Bjoerling[in interviews I heard].Curious Thanks billyguns2 |

| I Knew Pavarotti quite well; his three favorite tenors were Caruso, di Stefano, and Lanza. I also interviewed Jean Dalrymple when she was nearing 100 years of age; she stated that of all the opera singers she ever heard, Caruso was the most thrilling. Quite a statement! As to Scotto, she never loses an oportunity to show her ungracious nature. |
