I'm not named after a samurai. I'm named after a RUROUNI. Their philosophies are VERY DIFFERENT. The particular one I'm "named" after was a revolutionary assassin who FOUGHT AGAINST THE SAMURAI. I obviously wouldn't expect you to know this, but if you're going to try to use personal attacks at least do a little research. And HA! give me a break. The entire marine establishment is enshrouded in pompous self-absorbed narcicism. I have met former marines who weren't, but they HATE the military.

If you don't revere the samurai why are you "named" after one? Marine training doesn't end after boot camp by the way. They go on to various different schools and field training. Then they continue to train with their unit. Then they fight, which is probably the best training anyone can get. Also Marines are not technically SF, they are however an elite branch of the US Military. And exactly how many Marines have you actually met and talked to anyway, 99% of the ones I know are damn humble.

Samurai spent their entire existence training and becoming true warriors both in spirit and body. Marines are pathetic cannon-fodder meatheads with inflated self-rightous views. Fuck, compaired to the North Korean frontline stormtroopers, Marines look like children playing army in their backyards. I don't think you understand how poorly trained Marines are compaired to actual special forces around the world... who are suprisingly humble compaired to jackass Marines. btw, I don't revere Samurai

Honor. Courage. Commitment. Always faithful. Samurai and Marines are kinda similar there buddy. Oddly enough though it was the samurais' own government that cast them aside. Because they were believed to be obsolete... I guess thats one difference, Marines are needed, and always will be. They're not just warriors, to call them that is an understatement. The Marine Corps has done so much more than just fight. If you need examples I can give them to you, but I'm running out of room here.

Very impressive, another great show of US Forces, and I'm not even an american, but have always admired US military technology and personnel, just glad there on our side.

Archaic as in obsolete. I don't think the Samurai code and ideals are obsolete. They may yet have a place in the future. Crude soldiers such as "marines" are archaic. They are simply tools no adays. The elites play with your lives like it's a game and you LOVE it.

Why thank you.

Take notes!

Archaic means ancient, or antique. Not sure how you're using it here. But it is interesting that someone who admires the Samurai of ancient/ middle japan is calling others archaic.
