| i've just seen surkin live at creamfields fest and i can say he rocks, he's done a good set, whatever he uses on stage. of course he's not at a high level, for me he'll become a "true" dj when he will show he can rock with real decks also, but for the moment he's not bad |

| He's using Ableton live and a UC33 midi controler. No headphones and i think is not using a souncard either. |

| DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT SOFTWARE HE USES WHEN MIXING LIVE? Is he using Reality or Ableton or something? Looks like one of those programs with a midi controller plugged into the USB. Does that sound about right?
What about creating song remixes/edits?

| attention to hyde1970. how can you not hear the skipping track underneath ghetto obsession? hes obviously just started mixing out of the previews song, using an infiniti skip (which will traditionally fade out as the main part of the new song kicks in)
surkin is an AMAZING producer as well as a pretty decent DJ. trust me, hes not just hitting play on itunes |

| I can't answer that question because I personally have never seen a DJ use just a laptop. I agree with your statement about "just hitting play on itunes." I have seen many FAIL djs that do pretty much that, and they can go to hell. But the thing is, that never sounds good, and never will. If they are playing a prerecorded mix, then they can go to hell aswell. But for me, I don't care about what medium a DJ uses to play a live set, if it is truly live and improvised, and good, then whatever. |

| Although it's a poor quality video, so I'm not too sure, I would say at most he's using an equalizer, but as I said, you can't really be sure. |

| When it comes to composition and initial mixing, I have absolutely no problem with using computers, I use reason myself, but on stage it just seems lazy. |
