| Yeah, they were the first, yet they didn't intentionally instigate visual kei; their influence (at least appearance wise) was glam rock, and very westernized.
And although they do look upon themselves today as once being visual kei, at the time they were doing it in the 80's, it was glam and metal, tbh.

X was the initiator of visual kei. Of _course_ all other VK bands after are going to have similarities to them, and will speak of them as their inspiration.
