It also proves one thing - Turks are not enemies of Iran - pan-Turkism is a fringe movement, the problem lies in a very select few of Baku's ruling elite and their petroleum and geopolitical supporters. What may surprise you is that the Mullahs are supporting pan-Turkism in what they view as a "divide and rule" policy. Turkey has nothing to do with the pan-Turkist movement in Iran today, as they realize that seperatist movements in Iran are a threat to the entire region. The Turks actually want Iran to stay intact. The Mullahs however do not bear any allegiance to Iran - their discourse is fundamentally pan-Islamic. The Ikhwan al-Moslemeen (Islamic Brotherhood) movement is against secular democracies like that we see in Turkey. One thing is for sure - the Mullahs have certainly "culturally downgraded" Iran to such an extent that it is barely recognizable for what is truly is...The video is a warning to Turks that if the Ikhwan are allowed to gain power, they will try to change Turkey into (what they define) as an "Islamic" state and undo much of Attaturk's reforms.
Hopefully when all the divide and rule politics (pan-Islamism, Persian chauvenism, Pan-Arabism, pan-Turkism, etc.) is one day expunged, Turks and Iranians will (finally) realize that they are heirs to what is termed as the Iran-Turkish tradition of culture, one that has impacted much of world civilization. Only Turkey and Iran can claim an unbroken history in the region as all other states are post-colonial creations following World War One. Perhpas this is idealistic and even unrealistic at this time, however, it would be highly beneficial for Turkey and Iran to increase their bonds, a process which would include the Caucasus and Central Asia. In my humble opinion, the Turks are our cultural cousins.
