| through the 6 or so books i've read (that *are* very up-to-date) it *is* true that *some children* can be diagnosed as early as 12 mos. Now given that's if their symptoms are consistent & really "obvious" so to speak. like you said, some kids are late bloomers & kids are like snowflakes & so unique it's hard to say. but there are some very token Austistic symptoms unmistakable though. & those are the ones they look for - if they're consistent enough in said 12 mos. old child. :/ |

| he was experiencing many of these symptoms this video talks about...lack of eye contact, late walker, late talker, frequent temper tantrums, lack of social skills. BUT... he out grew them. Like I was just telling Morbid Kitty, he had a developmental delay with his speech. My husband and I had this quack come in to work with him a few times a week that his preschool suggested and she was the one who diagnosed him "autistic" The reason why he was struggling so much is because he couldn't talk. |

| This video is implying that Autism can be diagnosed by 12 mo. of age! This is absurd. I finally found a good speech therapist who found out the real problem. He was diagnosed with speech apraxia which is why he was having autism like symptoms.Imagine having to accept that your child is autistic at the age of 2, and going through all of that devastation and then finding out that it was just a speech disability! Parents... Give it time, find a therapist that you trust, and research! |
