i still dont know what the heck that guy is talking about, but proteins are the machines of your body that are small enough to do their work on really small things, like a sugar molecule for instance. the reason it can work on such small things is in its shape. A protein starts out as a strand and morphs into a useful shape. They are important to everything in your body. The only way we can understand the way they morph is with a lot of math. Computers can do the math real well.

My basic (extreme basic) understanding is the molecules form with the parts connecting at very specific angles between them. It's a college level chemstry thing, so take chemistry in college and you'll learn about molecule connection angles. When the angle form different, things can happen. This is one of the reasons why desease occurs, and learning the whys will give us the tools to cure these deseases. Again, very basic idea. Some else will need to explain better...
