| Havent you ever noticed that some of these movies take place in like the 1800s girls didnt have rights than if if they should have.
plus sometimes girls want a "man." you know someone that can watch them and always help them if they need it |

| I'm a gay feminist guy. I'm all up for masculinity on the right terms.
That apart: would you please do me, and everyone else, a favour, and not take what he sees as "what feminists see"? I think your argument is spot on. Particularly since Beast is redeemed, through love, into being physically beautiful. This might be messed up (love = Good = beauty), in a way, but a man's narrative as that of becoming physically beautiful? Now that's fucking rare. |

| Because what women do is tied into what men do; because gender is constructed in relation to, in opposition to, the other sex. Masculinity's construction is a perfectly valid subject, a very important one in understanding women's "twisted" conditions.
There's nothing wrong with the theme. The approach here just doesn't hold up very well. |

| No, you took it wrong.
Gaston is supposed to be portrayed as a Loser. That's why he didn't end up with Belle. Belle chose Beast who was much more caring and kind. As for Ariel, how was he dominate in his relationship with Belle? He wasn't. Hercules wasn't domineering in his relationship with Meg. He always was sweet and treated her gently because he was afriad his superman strength would hurt her. Besides, Meg was the more domineering one in the relationship. |

| okay, Disney is in no way sexist at all. Just because they give some roles here and there doesn't mean their sexist because they still respect women. That's just lame. |

| Okay. The argument in this video is very weak. I don't see this "masculinity" as much of a problem- and if it is- well it's not Disney's fault you nitwit--it's our whole society&media.
Why don't you focus on how the female characters look and how some of them give up their life to marry a Prince?
That seems a bit more twisted, and a bit more important to focus on. |

| What the hell? Beast from Beauty and the Beast is an extremely vulnerable and self-consious character! And in The Lion King, thats how animals behave. |

| The conflict between the beast and gaston, you could say symbolises the battle between positive and negative masculinity. In that the beast was a 600Ib muscle freak, stronger than gaston - but was caring and more humane despite his strength and dominance. Feminists always seem to portray anything to do with masculinity in a negative light. I wonder why? |

| No it teaches perseverance, something that's so rare in relationships/marriages these days. Women leave their partners at a blink of a second like a disposable camera without any second thought or responsibility. The message is that she should stay with her lover through a difficult time, and he WILL eventually change, which in the end he does. She already knows he's a sensitive/caring guy - not your stereotypical abusive husband. |
