This is a short video on an amazing human being, Daniel Tammet from Bristol, England, who apparently has Savant Syndrome and can make insane calculations in his mind (even surpassing several calculators).

| after i saw this video i began to wonder, its so good to be superintelligent? at what cost? most of the people who have this savant syndrome are mental deficient and the ugliest people i ever seen. and i wonder too if it isn't better to be superintelligent than pretty looking... |

| I saw this guy in another tv interview. he learn a difficult language in one week... amazing. if i remember right he's a savant not since birth, he had a cerebral apoplexy and after that he just had this skills. blessed. so this potential lies in every brain... the problem is how to unlock it. besides rain man, the movie phenomenon has the same savant topic. nice film. |

| His abilities are mind-blowingly astonishing, but Savants actually lack one of the greatest aspects of the human brain, which is creativity. They can do amazing stuff such as calculating like computers, but they never grow to become mathematicians, artists, poets, engineers or inventors. They have no or very little creativity, which is a pity. |
