| Joan Baez was Bob Dylan Girlfriend and loved him dearly, so when she said before the song that it was a 'protest song' and anti marriage..she was being ironic and intraspective(guess that part passed you by knecht and Joel!!) she was singing that song as much to herself and maybe most of all to Bob Dylan.she would have married Bob Dylan in a flash,the protest song she made referance to was that of Bob Dylans own against commitment.MrZimmerman wrote that song with more than protest songs in mind! |

| To all those who have searched for labels, who have tried to disifer the meaning, said thing to defend or slander her, the song or the song writer..I'm saying to you my take on this..Jaon Baez sang the song beautifully. she may or may not have known the double meaning in the song at the time, probabaly she did...that is Bob not wanting to be the saviour of the people via protest singer status. proabaly she did know..but what maybe some people have failed to realise is that ... |

| This song is not an Anti-Marriage Song. It's a song about Protest Singer, it's Bob Dylan saying to the Folk Movements that he's not a protest singer anymore. |

| I love the way she sang this song. I have been accustomed to the Turtles' version. Joan's is so much better. Her voice is totally awesome. Didn't even realize there was a third verse, because it was omitted from the Turtles' rendition. |

| Ms. Baez did a great rendition of this song, but I am curious about something. I never knew this was a "protest song" or an anti-marriage song. I thought the singer in this song was just not into the person who had a crush on him or her. Why would Joan be anti-marriage? |
