| Lol more like 500 BC, it took place before Christ was born, and before Roman Conquest, so that sets it back to roughly that time.
The artist/writer of the graphic novel is very pro-American, and used the ancient story as a means to portray his nationalism and his disdain for Middle-Eastern Culture (represented by the Persians). There are all kinds of parallels you could draw from the movie, and even as a raging liberal I was able to just sit back and enjoy it for what it was. An action movie. |

| they...didn't have...democracy. Okay, you're retarded, i'm not even gunna get into history on youtube but yes, they had governments and democracy and republics as well as other forms of government. Sparta may have lacked in this area but city states/polis's like athens did have an advanced system of government. |
